If the rules are getting lightened up on threads on public figures should be alright.
It may just be a difference in forum culture, but threads on public figures was okay back on PULL. There even was a thread on Elon Musk although not in the snowflakes section. So for the sake of keeping it different from KF these should be allowed and considered if posted up. Like right now I think that girl who wrote a 300 page sex manifesto would be pretty humorous. (haven't looked into her too much though, but I'd be willing to add that on my list of people to write up on.)

Edit: Rebekah Jones was her name.

This is 20,000 on everything put together. For a public figure it is not a very high bar. I don't have a problem with exceptions for well established cows such as Tommy Tooter or ADF. The purpose of vetting someone is to prevent revenge threads from slipping in.
>Revenge Thread

If its funny and interesting who cares?

Revenge threads (PA threads) are banned. KF also prohibits these types of threads as well. Same with lolcow.farm or PULL.
But instead of deleting the PA requests, can you at least lock the threads and use them as an example?

And I'm not exactly sold on the followers requirements. It's not like every cow that's out there knows how to bring in a cult.

Yes, I would lock these kinds of threads. But it's better to be proactive than reactive. 20,000 really isn't a cult following. CWC for example has 40.6K followers on her Twitter alone. That is more of a cult following. But like I said in terms of who qualifies: If the person is well established in internet culture like ADF I have no issue with a thread. Another example is Russell Greer. He probably doesn't have 20K followers on his social media but he is very much in the public spotlight and I would have no issue with a thread.

I am taking a look at Section 230 and I don't think we really have much to worry about:
https://www.fox10phoenix.com/news/section-230-what-the-law-is-and-why-trump-wants-to-repeal-it

Here is Trump's objection to Section 230: Trump argues that Section 230 suppresses conservative voices and infringes on users’ First Amendment rights on the internet and on social media platforms. On Monday, in social media posts, Trump falsely claimed that the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic was not as deadly as the flu. Trump’s post was removed by Facebook and flagged by Twitter for violating the social media platforms’ rules, the companies said.

Biden believes that Section 230 has not done enough to shield people from false information on the internet. In 2019, Biden told the New York Times, “It [Facebook] it propagating falsehoods they know to be false.” Democrats argue that Facebook, Google and Twitter have failed to regulate hate speech and false news on their platforms, and Biden ultimately wants to force companies to do more content moderating.

This is not a news site. This is a forum. We are just gossiping about eccentric people, internet drama and news stories.

I was thinking about the Minecraft Youtuber Dream. He's got around 14 million subscribers and recently has been exposed by speedrunning moderators as a cheater. He vehemently denies any of the evidence they've created and is using pretty similar rhetoric to Trump throwing temper tantrums on Twitter, not to mention his rabid fans target anyone and everyone who talks badly about their god.
I'm not particularly interested in him, not do I have the time, but someone else could make a thread. Should be some interesting developments.

I think he could be a somewhat good candidate. I could write an OP if no one else will, but since I'll be busy this week, it might take a while.

I'd respectfully suggest that in Desmond's case, it's his mother that's the lolcow (Wendylou). The way she whores poor Desmond out to degenerates to win asspats, not to mention the way she uses him to vicariously relive the wild '90s youth she always wanted but could never have. You can just tell that poor kid is dead inside. Here's hoping he'll snap one day and decapitate his mom live on TikTok in Minecraft.
