What does a lolcow's forum even mean? This place has been extremely calm and civil even after it's started picking up traction. Kengle hasn't done a thing so far to warrant criticism, and members here are willing to help him with anything.

Well Josh used to abuse Adderall back when he tried to rewrite the code for 8chan, and he's been doing stims for his whole life, I dont know if he does now

The Political Sperging Category has been moved to Continents/Regions of Interest and made into a subcategory. I have increased the subforums in this subcategory from 1 to 7 to properly classify the posts in here. I am adding in a new subforum here "Mexico Politics – Political drama & shit-flinging with generous helpings of government corruption and narcoterrorism from your friendly neighborhood drug cartels thrown in."

There is a place for political discussion and debate on this forum like there is for lolcows and celebrities and I will keep an eye on this to see how it works out. I think we can avoid the kind of cancerous shit that happened on the KF if we do this correctly. The most important thing is to maintain a neutral stance on this matter and not to be seen as a hugbox for the alt right or far left. I will be working late until ten or so tonight but since I am off for most of the day tomorrow, we'll be able to develop some ground rules so things don't get out of hand. I don't like to talk about muh feels to a bunch of strangers because it's pretty gay, but just this once I'm going to make an exception. After I socked up to dump my copypasta folder, I didn't think I would see any of you faggots again. At best, I expected a couple of people from KF to show up here, say goodbye, and then fuck off after a few days. But when I log into the admin panel, this is one of the things I see:

That massive spike in registrations coincides with me eating a perma for glowposting, but even ~2.5 weeks later we have new people trickling into Onion Farms, and the number of active users has remained pretty stable from day to day. I don't care if OF never reaches the size of Kiwi Farms, but I do want it to stick around for as long as possible so that I have a place to shoot the shit with people. Reddit is awful. 4chan has gone to shit. There aren't really any forums like Kiwi Farms, so without Onion Farms there is no more SIGSEGV. If I post anywhere else, I have to act like a completely different person.

I guess my reasons for moderating Onion Farms are ultimately pretty selfish, but if it means that I want to help foster a community where a bunch of autists can have fun laughing at other autists, then who gives a shit, right? I'm not in this for power (and pretty meaningless power, at that), for popularity, or for any other bullshit you care to name. I do it FOR FREE because I want Onion Farms to be a place where people can have fun.

We are going to stay with GoDaddy, after carefully considering all our options, this is our best choice. I’ve upgraded our account with GoDaddy. We went from 90GB of storage up to 150. We have 8GB of RAM and 4 CPUs. Security has been upgraded, we have maximum security against DDOS attacks, malware and so forth. In short, it is all but impossible for someone to launch a DOS attack against us. We will have automatic nightly backups. In case there is a problem with the backups, I will get in touch with tech support. I have plenty of room on external storage devices to download any backups.

Expenses: Our expenses have increased but they are not unreasonable. The hosting and security works out to about $120/month. There are other expenses involved that I will attribute to a learning curve, but I am figuring out a way to cut back on them.

GoDaddy taking down the forum: Some of you were concerned about GoDaddy kicking us off. I had a short conversation with someone from the GoDaddy help team a couple of days ago. As long was we adhere to their TOS we are fine.

Generating Revenue: In the future, we can start looking at selling promotional items with the Onionfarms logo. We are in good standing. No one has banned us and I want to try and keep it this way. Merry Christmas
