Reputation bar; I was going to install the reputation comment system ala AMB but ran out of free downloads for the day. The stars are just a reputation bar based on reaction score. It's just a way of acknowledging user contributions and giving them something that allows other people to recognize their contributions.
I also added little quality of life improvements like
an edit reason
And a tag button
