The people that didn't try self-improvement decided to become "kawaii anime girls" (even the men). It should surprise nobody that the kinds of people that are still vtubers in current year are mostly lolcows.

"Vtuber companies" are talent agencies that hire these people. They pool money together to make merchandise and fund convention appearances. There are two big ones left in the west and two big ones left in the east, most others have folded in the past year as the bubble burst
