Hello new people, as the site has grown by nearly 60 members in the last 36 hours and this will hopefully lead to more content being shared with the forums.
As it is right now, all of the boards in the cowsphere category are open for anyone to make threads; this has obviously caused minor issues with some threads needing to be moved to other boards.
Ideally we would like to keep thread creation open across all the boards if possible. However it's understandable that it can be detrimental to create a publicly accessible thread that may require some edits to be fully fleshed out.
So Poll question. If we made a private members only board for thread creation, would you use it?

Allowing anyone to make a thread but requiring those threads to meet certain criteria and having a board dedicated to works in progress. You could actually probably look at Null's decisions over the years and ask yourself: If you experienced the same problems or circumstances what would you, and if that answer is similar or identical to what Null did, do that and do your version of it.

Being a newcomer whose spent the last day or so alt-tabbing and combing through threads, there's tons of dead ones. I would say consolidation is your friend. You aren't a supermassive shithole so it just leaves tons of dead threads with 2 posts nobody cares about spread thin all over every board for ever season.

You can probably get away with pooling half this forum into a single Off Topic board and wait until something becomes too big to merely be relegated to that need it be cut out like a cancer or given room to thrive like a splitting Ameoba. Look at the way Ralph's lone thread balooned because too much was going down and it necessitated the Gunt board. The IP2 board is a great idea even if a few characters are only tangentially related to IP2 specifically, but it works as the equivilent if Internet Famous.

EDIT: My point:

By number of posts alone, The Tranch, Nick and Ralph doesn't really deserve their own front page real estate. Not to say they don't deserve documenting and discussion, or haven't earned their place as topics on Kiwi Farms, but here they really haven't yet.

As Kiwi Refugees begin to pour in, Less is More, you want to consolidate discussion to where people will get sucked into the threads they scroll past so it furthers discussion and fuels activity and engagement and all the fancy words. A forum with 5 threads will always be more active than a forum with 15 boards, 10 sub-boards, 14 off-topic variants and 500+ threads scattered all over them. Try to find the bare minimum side of the middle ground and let the natural acitivity create the need for more and more. Kiwi was originally only about Chris Chan before it ballooned by natural demand.

I also included the threads I've personally bookmarked thus far (I still have 20+ tabs open) for sitting down and reading as opposed to skimming.

But if you were looking for some sincere-posting here it is.

It kind of depends on what it's about. Sure, it's fun to laugh at some crazy person who rambles on YouTube or talk about the next influencer who's running their underaged catboy ranch.

But the main problem is how active it'll be. It's an spectrum between it being buried to something that'll actually caused the cow to retaliate.

2 of these are food related , business could continue to be its own thing , the only reason I posted my thread there was because I assumed burger wars to be the food board. also is there any way to have collapsible boards on the main page like on kiwi I like having the ones I dont really use closed.

I've been working on consolidating a lot of the boards. I don't know where to put these ones. I actually brought it up to Kengle last night; those three specifically among others.

If a board isn't getting daily engagement it shouldn't exist, it just takes up too much space and makes the site appear dead. I'm gonna recommend what I would prefer what the front page of the site to look like so feel free to call my idea retarded if you don't like it.

Top of the site: Happening thread, same as the one on kiwifarms, but less moderated.
Below that: Featured posts, admin should appoint a janny whose sole job is to update the feed everyday so people have reason to at least look at the front page while on break or at the toilet.
Then we get to the boards.
Top board should called kiwifarms. Every thread about Null, Keffals, Chris Chan, Ethan Ralph, Kiwifarm Users, or the site itself should be on this one board. Its the main reason why people are coming to this site right now it would make sense to consolidate it all. Lolcows who are not directly associated with the farms do not belong here.
The next board should be entirely ip2 because much of the userbase here before the kiwifarm refugee crisis was interested in it.
Then a beauty parlor board, just a space for women to be vain bitches to talk about death fats and crack whores like they were doing on the farms. For all the shit kf gets it was not a sausage party.
Then a very small board for all other lolcows like the prospering thread board.
Then a board for non lolcow related subjects like music, vidya, art, ect.
Then a news board that mimics articles and happenings to contain reddit and 4chan sperging about current events.
Finally a meta board thats literally just for discussion about the site itself.

Also these boards should have logos like they do on kiwifarms.

This is a lot of work to get done, I'm sure someone would criticize me about this, also we should keep vtube and anime shit off the site because its fucking cancer.

the admins and staff are making changes everyone can agree upon, some changes might take longer than others but regardless everyone here is dedicated to fixing and maintaining the site, to add to that any of your suggestions would be welcomed and implemented not simply hand waved away.

This is more or less what I've been working on getting us to. Many boards have already been consolidated. I've created a board to move threads that are inactive and more will be done until we achieve an efficient, organized, proper looking front page. Unfortunately, until we get our backend fixed up by Kengle's outside tech guy it will be difficult or impossible to implement some changes, like the featured threads given that we don't know what will stop working when the backend gets resolved. We'll definitely look into finding a user to handle that though when everything else is fixed.
