So I got a new computer and this is my first time using Openshot on it, and my computer seemingly can't handle it. This is despite my new computer being superior to my old one in every way, and 5 years younger. I'm not married to the program, its just the only good quality free video editor I know of, I'm open to suggestions if there's worthwhile alternatives.
What it does exactly is when previewing video, there's this big delay before playing, and then the audio is out of sync. This makes editing almost impossible. My research seems to suggest this is because my computer is struggling to generate the preview and is running out of RAM (something my old computer never did). I've tried everything I can think of, including:
-Messing around with the audio rate, and even when it matches up the source video perfectly its still out of sync.
-Increasing the Cached amount in Openshot's settings.
-Lowering the video quality to make previewing easier on my CPU.
-Shrinking the preview window to near-unwatchable dimensions.
-Going into Windows Graphics settings and giving High Performance custom setting.
-Using Task Manager to set this program to 'Realtime' priority.
-And of course, closing every other process that I can. Literally nothing is open or in the systems tray.
None of the above even helped a bit. Either my computer is just pitiful or the problem is something else... Or I could just use a different video editor, but I don't want to spend a lot of money.
Thanks
