A Nigerian DJ in diaspora, identified as Moses, has been arrested by the India Police for allegedly defrauding of 18 million naira by falsely pretending to secure her a visa to Canada. Moses, prior to the arrest, had lived in Bengaluru since 2014 and works as a disc jokey. Unknown to many, his DJ business was just a facade for his real work of crime. For years, Moses had been involved in multiple online scams; however, his last scam job had him to meet his waterloo.
Moses posed as a visa agent and deceived the woman into believing that he could confidently secure her a work visa in Canada. The woman believed and sent him Rs 17 Lakhs to his account. His scam was made easier as he was able to use her personal information, which he gathered from a private website she once visited to sound convincing, knowledgeable, and trustworthy to her.
The woman's suspicion began to spring up when Moses kept asking her for more money, yet there was no progress in the job he promised her. She went ahead to report him to Wayanad Cyber Police Station. The team led by Inspector Shaju Joseph were able to find Moses and apprehend him. Currently, the police had only been able to retrieve Rs 6 Lakhs from him.
