You know what's odd... lately I've been seeing a bunch of people on /v/ shit talk Katawa Shoujo claiming it wasn't really that good of a VN to begin with. But they don't really explain in detail WHY they hate it.

It kind of petered out at the end but it was a funny take on small town life, the associated weirdness of it all, and urban legends. Had a really good Christmas musical episode at one point. Definitely worth checking out, I liked it better than Welcome to Night Vale. King Falls AM feels like a story about a genuine small town.
Katawa Shoujo is a good game, everyone should play it.

The Sharty is nothing more but a shitty remix of those old niche and obscure imageboards that you've would've found back in the 2010's when some 4channers were dissatisfied with how things were run on 4chan at the time and wanted to make their own communities with their own rules (in which those chan splinters died off and became irrelevant due to them being small corners of the Internet where most did not cared about).
In the grand scheme of things, the Sharty isn't really anything special and they're just a carbon copy of imageboards that existed before them with a similar gimmick.
I'm old enough to remember various communities that splintered off from 4chan at the time; the most notable of this was 8chan where they were founded because some 4channers at the time found 4chan to not be free enough and wanted to make a more pro-free speech imageboard but now and days 8chan is so irrelevant that they're even more forgotten than YTMND.
I also like to make the counterargument that "Sharty" culture is actually just 4chan culture and the Sharty took credit for work they didn't do for the most part. Wojaks/Soyjaks actually originated from 4chan but the Sharty cucks took credit for something they did not originally created. If you remember Rage Comics, the Reddit normies took credit for characters like Forever Alone, Me Gusta, Cereal Guy, Challenged Accepted, the Fuck Yea guy, and so one where most of those Rage Comic characters actually originated from 4chan but the Redditors claimed Rage Comics as their own and ran Rage Comics into the ground to the point that they became unfunny cringe (the same can also be said about other 4chan memes like the Advice Animals and Rick Rolling where nomies found those memes, ran them into the ground, and then the Internet got tired of them and made them unfunny). So you can make the argument that the Sharty cucks are just parasites that take credit for a meme they didn't even created.
If anything, "Sharty" culture having a presence on Twitter and Youtube is actually the worst thing to happen to "Sharty" culture because normies have a strong track record of ruining memes. Why did Rage Comics became irrelevant by the end of the 2010's? Because the Internet started to get tried of them as normies spamming the same 'Forever Alone' and 'Challenge Accepted' memes over and over again that it got to the point wherepeople just started calling them cringe.
The same thing will happen to Wojaks/Soyjaks where eventually the Internet will get tried of seeing people spam the same 'Chudjak and 'Troonjak' memes over and over again where the Internet will just put the final nail in the coffin and label Wojaks/Soyjaks as unfunny cringe (if you remember the 'I Sexually Identify as an Attack Helicopter' copypasta, that was funny until it wasn't when that copypasta got ran into the ground because normies don't know when to end the joke and normies are good at making any meme become cringe).
I'm just waiting for the day for Jersh to get so done with the Sharty (because I'm sure he doesn't like the Sharty either and I'm sure Jersh will just say what everyone else has been thinking for years) where he will take the Metokur route and call the Sharty "Really fucking gay" in the same way Metokur called Nick Fuentes and the Groypers "Really fucking gay" in the last time both Jim and Fuentes talked to each other.
I like to make the argument that the War on Troons is going to backfire on the Right in the same way the War on Feminism backfired on the Right back when Gamergate was relevant.
If you remember the polit6ical sphere back in the 2010's there was a backlash against feminism because a lot of leftoid feminists were promoting stupid shit in regards to things like video games and pop culture in general (people like Anita Sarkeesian tried to promote non-issues and make mountains out of molehills on why pop culture needed to become progressive). Probably one of the most notable groups on the Internet that criticized feminism at the time were the Youtube Skeptics (former progressive atheists that began adopting more right-wing thought). The Skeptics and other similar groups were not wrong when they said that feminism was cringe. But the big mistake that the Right made at the time was being misogynist while criticizing feminism. This backfired on the Skeptics and other similar right-wing groups online because they made it way too easy for some Left-Winger to make them look like a bunch of fools (part of the reason why much of the Internet was progressive throughout the later half of the 2010's and the beginning of the 2020's is because the Right failed to keep their arguments as objective as possible).
Now and days, the Right has learned that while "Owning the Libs" can be funny when it comes to feminism, that can only take them so far. If you are going to criticize feminism then do so without restoring to actual misogyny. One very effective strategy is to show the ladies why feminism in the long term is a bad deal for them is to show them the long term damage that feminism has done not just for men but for women as well (men dropping out of the dating scene, men refusing marriage, men refusing helping women out are valid reasons to show why feminism will also screw over women in the end); if you are going to criticize feminism then do not resort to misogyny when doing so. The only reason why the Right is starting to win the argument in regards to Gamergate is because the Right learned the hard lessons on how to actually argue against feminism and not look cringe to the general public.
When it comes to Transgenderism, the Right isn't wrong when they say that stupid shit like Drag Queen Story Hour and Gender Affirming Surgery for minors are not ethical by any means. But where the Right is making the same fatal mistake is restoring to transphobia to promote their arguments which is fucking retarded for the Right to do. Much like with feminism, when it comes to Transgenderism then the best way to argue against the stupid shit the progressives promote is by being completely objective in your arguments because otherwise it's very easy for some half-wit Left-Winger to strawman and debunk said arguments from the Right (especially if the right-winger in question resorts to subjective arguments that a left-winger can easily tear apart).
If you are going to criticize Progressive Transgenderism then do so without restoring to actual transphobia much like how if you are going to criticize Feminism then do so without restoring to actual misogyny because your arguments will be much stronger and effective that way rather than restoring to an ineffective clutch like "Owning the Libs" anyway.

I agree that this will eventually backfire. The early neocon Republicans of the 80s and 90s, with their Christian moral panic, ultimately paved the way for Democrats to implement more liberal policies. The problem is that people tend to reject hypocritical moralizing, and it can have the opposite effect of what was intended.

You are not wrong about the criticism of feminism and transgenderism. What the left used to get so far was sympathy over discrimination and that was were the right played right into their hands. Regardless if they deserved to get discriminated or not for their asinine behavior, the right gave them the means to remain in power and present themselves as morally superior for over 10 years. The problem that I also see was that they were not mature either which given G.I.F.T isn't that surprising that they lacked it and thus ended up shooting themselves in the foot.
