Ethiopia and Somaliland Under Fire for MOU; Egypt Jumps in the Fray

As Somaliland is going ahead with its memorandum of understanding with Ethiopia. Egypt is jumping into this with a military partnership with Somalia

Egypt and Somalia reveal a new security partnership with Somalia which involves Egyptian troops in Somalia to collaborate with Somalia armed forces. While ostensibly enhancing regional security to stabilize Somalia within the African Union, it is also seen as a swipe against Ethiopia. Egypt and Ethiopia have been at odds over the construction of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam that was completed in 2023. The dam which affects the Blue Nile could be significant as Egypt's population is projected to go over 160 million by 2050
